on tires i was thinking 8.5 slick (maybe M/T would help?) and possibly 275 drag radial as these are becoming very popular on the heads up sceen as aposed to a real street tire that creates a huge bald spot when it blows the tires off on the launch. Not counting anything out , just looking from all aspects.

You sir have a good point!!!! lol

this would be a nitrous only class (no boost) (turbo or blower)
4 cyl or 6 cyl is fine , import or domestic but nitrous only as it could get out of hand quickly we know what a 183 cu 93-98 supra can do - we ran 8.03 more than 10 years ago and it was 3500 lbs , not to mention what a grand national is capable of. Goal here is to keep it: simple, fun and inexpensive
please keep the input coming . Marty

Oh ya. I know the car. I didnt realize you guys were a part of that car til today. Ok. Back on topic. lol. What about requiring the cars to have the same oem block and trans that came in that specific car/year? That will keep out the aftermarket blocks, powerglides, dodge omnis with v8's in them(never seen one but you know what I mean  ) etc. Just an idea Im throwing out there.
