tips for engine swap?

Postby big T » Thu Apr 02, 2009 10:57 pm

i am begining a swap on my 99 rcsb silverado from the 5.3 and 4l60e to a big block and a th400... i was just wondering if anyone had tried to put a gen 4 big block into a LS-1 type engine bay, and what problems you encountered, of course i wont be using the electronics, but any info on motor mount, trans mount locations if it will even fit or am i going to have to cut the firewall ect....... thanks big T

Why not just build a big inch LS based motor? In a direct comparison GM's 454 LSX LS based motor made more power than thier 572 BBC.

Fergy, where you been hiding? I totally agree with you. Unless this guy already has a big block sitting on the floor next to the truck, I think he should look at what he already has.
