OK guys I was there Saturday night with my grandson he loves coming to the shootouts so I take him whether or not I am racing or not. I don't think you guys are giving the fans a fair shake here, some understand bracket racing and some don't but from what I get from the spectator side is they don't care they just want to see cars going down the track, any cars they just like to watch the race. Now that said what they don't like is 2 hour down times and waiting for car to come down the staging lanes and 1 car at a time making a pass. I like running the index but my car won't make the cut when its hot . It was disappointing at how slow thing were I know there has to be safty and let me tell you that crew worked hard as hot as it was. My idea put cars down the track, any cars and keep the down time to a minimum. People are there to see races not talk about why it takes so long for the cars to come down.

You make a couple GOOD points, the big one one is 1 car at a time going down the track, how is it that at a NHRA event they can qualify a full field of funny cars quicker than 5 Pro Mods at ozark? (There is your biggest amount of down time) It is ridiculous that they cant run side by side, just makes for a one lane race track! All classes should qualify side by side, alternating lanes. Pretty much how it works everywhere else. As far as the index/bracket racing program i prefer index, but what Larry was saying makes alot of since, there was 1 7.50 car and 1 6.50 car, Larry paid and didnt even get to race! We will still come and support the track, but getting home at 4 am with that few amount of cars sucks!!

:soapbox: I know a lot of index racers in the past built
an all year rivalry leading up to the
big race at SM. When Larry won 7.0
He became "the King" and we had fun
all year with that.
Take that away and
you are once again alienating (poor business)
instead of including (good business).
My suggestion would be Instead of saying
to index racers "we wont need you at street machines"
(Based on shoot outs so far I think keeping cars going
down track would be a bigger concern)
You instead turn it into an opportunity.
Say only the ten racers in each index class that have
showed up for the most shootouts get the chance to
be in the big show.
That keeps each class a manageable size at SM,
and gives an extra incentive to participate during
the other shootouts.
I know this for sure, sooner or later all the advertizing
money spent in a market this small will be a waste if
all the spectators get is hours of down time and a bunch of
single runs.

If u think I'm just talking about the last race,
Your wrong!! Every race . Just one or two cars
Go down the track and it played off as a good track.
