Hey Novice, I haven't used a pertronix dist. but I have installed several of their ignition kits in points distributors. I have one in my ratrod truck right now, it performs flawlessly. Some people don't realize how long Pertronix has been around, they have made electronic ignition conversion kits for industrial engines (and forklifts) since the 70's. I would trust any of their ignition products.

I've put one of their stand alone units in a Oldsmobile about 5 years ago and it worked great.

thanks guys, seriously considering one of these. I know the big name units look good on the firewall but I just need to get going without bankrupting myself...novice
