Ive got an lq9 engine 4.000 bore(.20 over) 371C.I. & 6.100 rods that's going to be blueprinted and balanced with L92 heads & about 11:1 compression, forged bottom end, 4.88 gears, and I'm trying to decide on which intake to run in 1/8 mile many ppl tell me that the Holley Tunnel Ram will only slow me down in running 1/8 mostly....victor or holley tunnel...PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Victor JR- http://m.summitracing.com/parts/edl-28457

Holley Tunnel Ram- http://m.summitracing.com/parts/hly-300-112

If you are running an automatic transmission and a fairly low rpm motor - the Victor intake will work better than the tunnel ram. You need to try to match your combination (intake - cam - heads - converter - gear - etc) all for an rpm range - like 5000 - 7000 or in James case 1500 to 3000  .

If you want it to look cool but not run well ..... put the tunnel ram on. The guys who run tunnel rams are usually clutch cars or big cubic inch or just think they look cool.

Stock Ls3/L99/l76 intake will make way more power under 5000 rpm than ANY other intake period. The victor will have poor air flow distribution.

I run a Holley Hi-Ram base because IT LOOKS so COOL. and because it should have superior air flow distribution (although we haven't tested that theory in any way). and with the twin 62mm turbos TOO much torque can be a problem.

Guys have tested the stock truck intakes and average power 3000-5500 rpm is always higher than the aftermarket offerings. If you are using stock pistons and rods, it's not going to live long where the single planes and tunnel rams make power. aftermarket rod bolts only help until the rod cap deforms to which isn't at much higher rpm than the rod bolts let go (caused by the caps stretching). I've always wondered why someone would spend $200-$300 on rod bolts to put into a $400 engine.

The pistons are forge mahle pistons & scat I-beam rods with arp2000 bolts.

In that case I would put an aggressive cam in with 108-110 LSA and a super victor or Cary/Mast intake with a 4 barrel throttle body and spin it to the moon.

The only intake they make for the L92heads is the Edelbrock Victor JR & Holley tunnel ram...
