The Mickey Thompson Doorslammer Shootout kicks off with Test n' Tune and Qualifying on Friday August 13th. The points battle is in full swing now, and racers will be attempting to get extra points by setting Low ET during Friday night qualifying.
The crew at ORP will have the track prepped so the doorslammers can put down as much horsepower as possible so they can attempt to get the best qualifying position for Saturdays Shootout race. Low Qualifiers get lane choice, and in some cases, they may get a bye run (single) during first round depending on the number of cars at the race - both are a strategic advantage for Heads Up racing. For racers not running the shootout, Friday's TnT is a great time to test as the track will be at it's absolute best condition - but you must run slicks or drag radials, no street tires on Shootout Weekends because they eat up the rubber off the starting line.
Racers: We will have the gates open at 9 am for everyone to get parked early and get situated. If you have a big truck/trailer rig, regardless of what class you're running (Bracket or Shootout) please give Jamond a call so that we can try and have a good parking spot for you before you get here! If you are not a first time racer at ORP, and have a large rig.... drop us a line also so that Jamond can have a spot ready for you too! Parking lots of big rigs all at the same time can be difficult, so please help us out by giving us a courtesy call ahead of time... and thanks in advance!

Saturday the gates open at 8 am for Racer Parking and open testing gets under way at 11 am. The final two rounds of qualifying begin at 2 pm, so make sure to get your food and drink and be in your seats by then! Bracket racers will be running at 3 pm, and Shootout eliminations start in the early evening.
At the last shootout, Turbo Todd Kitchen laid claim to the fastest ever pass at Ozark Raceway Park with a 177.65, and he says he's going to bump that ET and MPH record up once again, but Mike Kimmis hasn't been sitting at home watching TV, we hear that bad black Trans Am has received a few upgrades to snatch back the track record - question is, can he do it???. Also at the last race we saw Mike McDaniel lay claim to both ends of the record in Mean Street bumping Jason Ulven off the charts. Will Ulven step up his game? With the track hooking as good as it has been lately (Marty found the secret sauce!) it's very likely we'll see records drop in all the classes!
