We've got a pair of Nitro Funny Cars as a special treat for the The Mickey Thompson Doorslammer Shootout which starts on May 25th. The event kicks off with Test n' Tune and Shootout Qualifying on Friday Evening and about the time the sun is setting we're going to turn loose the Nitro Funny Cars! Watch Rapid Randy Baker in the Sin City Corvette in a heads up duel with "Jake" Jacobsmeyer in the All Star Challenger. Yes, once again the ground will Shake, Rattle and Roll at Ozark Raceway Park - better bring your ear plugs cause this one's gonna be LOUD.
As always the ORP crew will have the track prepped so the doorslammers can put down as much horsepower as possible so they can attempt to get the best qualifying position for Saturdays Shootout race, so qualifying should be pretty intense. Low Qualifiers get lane choice, and in some cases, they may get a bye run (single) during first round depending on the number of cars at the race - both are a strategic advantage for Heads Up racing. For racers not running the shootout, Friday's TnT is a great time to test as the track will be at it's absolute best condition - but you must run slicks or drag radials, no street tires on Shootout Weekends because they eat up the rubber off the starting line.
Saturday May 26th
Final Qualifying and Eliminations
- Spectator Gate Opens at Noon
- Qualifying 3 pm & 4:30 pm
- Eliminations begin a 6 pm
- Nitro Funny Cars after Dark
- Spectators $20 includes Pit Pass
(Kids under 12 get in free with adult)
Get your ear plugs ready and in your seats at 6pm, because there's going to be plenty of noise, flames and smoke coming from the full field of Pro Mods, Pro Street, Outlaw, True 10.5, Drag Radial and Mean Street doorslammers. If that isn't enough to get your blood going, the Nitro Funny Cars of Rapid Randy Baker in the Sin City Corvette and "Jake" Jacobsmeyer in the All Star Challenger will be making more passes to see which is the King of ORP, you don't want to miss this one!
